Slip Resistance

Safety flooring often has a textured surface or incorporates slip-resistant additives

to provide traction and reduce the risk of slips, especially when wet.

Durability

It is engineered to withstand heavy foot traffic and frequent cleaning,

making it suitable for commercial and industrial use.

Hygiene

Many safety flooring options are easy to clean and maintain,

helping to prevent the buildup of dirt, bacteria, and mold.

Impact Absorption

Some safety flooring materials offer a degree of cushioning or shock absorption,

which can help reduce the risk of injury in the event of a fall.

Fact File

Anti-Slip Paint and Coating

Purpose: Anti-slip paint and coatings are applied to surfaces such as floors, stairs, ramps, decks, and walkways to increase traction and reduce the risk of slips and falls, especially in wet or high-traffic areas.

Composition: These paints and coatings typically contain additives such as aggregates, granules, or grit that create a rough surface texture, enhancing grip.

Application: They can be applied to various substrates including concrete, wood, metal, and tile surfaces. Application methods include brushing, rolling, or spraying.

Durability: The durability of anti-slip paint and coatings varies depending on factors such as the quality of the product, surface preparation, and environmental conditions.

Some coatings may require periodic reapplication to maintain effectiveness.

Usage: Commonly used in industrial settings, commercial buildings, public spaces, and outdoor areas where slip hazards are a concern.

Thermoplastic Floor Signs

Purpose: Thermoplastic floor signs are pre-formed or custom-designed floor markings made from thermoplastic materials. They are used for safety, wayfinding, and informational purposes in various indoor and outdoor environments.

Features: These floor signs are typically highly durable, weather-resistant, and have a low profile to withstand foot and vehicle traffic. They often feature bold colors, symbols, text, or pictograms for clear communication.

Installation: Thermoplastic floor signs are applied by heating the material and adhering it to the surface using a heat gun or torch. Once cooled, they create a long-lasting bond with the floor.

Applications: Common applications include marking pedestrian walkways, indicating hazard zones, delineating parking spaces, directing traffic flow, and conveying important safety messages.

Benefits: Thermoplastic floor signs offer advantages such as high visibility, easy maintenance, and resistance to fading, peeling, and abrasion. They are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use in various industries including manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, healthcare, and retail.

Safety Non-slip Flooring at Euston Station, London

Our team recently completed a four-stage safety flooring project at Euston Station. We first applied anti-slip paint to

platforms 4-7 and 12-15, to increase friction and minimise the risk of slip and trip accidents.

This solution helped to ensure the safety of passengers and staff while also improving the overall appearance of the station.

Frost Solutions also supplied and fitted Premark performance markings and 'SLOW' anti-slip floor graphics to address a problem area within the station where buggies would slip. Since the application of this safety flooring, incidents of slipping have been eliminated.
