Stair and Walkway Refurbishment
Routes between platforms generate the most foot traffic at stations and the subsequent wear and tear can become hazardous, increasing the risk of slips,
trips and falls.
Treads and flooring at Leicester station were in a bad state of repair and had
to be replaced.
The existing surfaces were taken out and
all loose debris removed.
The staircase was then given an anti-rust treatment and refitted with new stair and landing panels all clearly
marked for safety.
The over-bridge between platforms was given an anti-slip finish to prevent trips and falls and beneath the stairs was buffed, cleared of any loose material and repainted so the whole area
looked brand new.
Toilet Refurbishment, London Bridge Station Facilities
Before
After
In Coronation year Network Rail wanted to refresh the existing customer facilities at
the station, showcasing London.
Not only was the design a factor, Network Rail also wanted a solution to help protect against graffiti and vandalism.
We worked with artist Ilona Drew (www.idrewthis.co.uk) using well known London landmarks to come up with a vibrant and relevant scheme.
External door graphics feature unique landmarks for each door, with interior walls wrapped in a coordinating color. To protect against graffiti, we installed PetG panels to prevent scratches and peeling. These panels were then ceramic-coated for added protection against traditional graffiti.
Feltham Station Lifts, South Western Railway
Before
After
Public lifts are especially prone to graffiti, acid-etching and scratches making
them unwelcoming and offensive places. Vandalism like this leads to more
anti-social behaviour including urination and drug taking. This is not the desired
image and effect any station wants for its commuters.
Feltham station was one such instance where the state of the lifts was really
going down, fast.
The first stage was covering the offensive and unsightly graffiti with a brushed steel architectural vinyl leaving the unit and doors looking as good as new.
This hard-wearing and textured vinyl is far more environmentally sound than replacing metal cladding and panelling as well as coming in at much lower cost and causing minimal disruption to passengers
Once wrapped with the architectural film we can then coat and protect against
pen, paint and acid-etched graffiti.
The clear coating and film are sacrificial and can easily be re-applied if necessary
(in the event of deep scratching) as can the architectural vinyl making this a long term sustainable solution which leaves the lift looking brand new.
